Long-term Objectives
Interest towards the Barents area is increasing. The European Unions’ policy of Northern Dimension wishes to integrate Russia into European and global structures by increasing mutual cooperation. Barents Specialists Network can play an important role in this cooperation between Europe and Northwest Russia.
The Barents Specialists Network will consist of university scholars, teachers at polytechnics and colleges, students and other interested participants. The program will develop their language skills, create Virtual Barents Studies in the web, support post-graduate education and provide high-quality professional education on topics related to Northwest Russia and the Barents region.
The long-term objective of the program is to create permanent regional network of Barents area specialists and researchers in the 15 participating educational institutions from four countries. Meetings, seminars and joint education activities of the network will lead to further cooperation initiatives, projects and business opportunities that benefit the whole region.
