Activities

Barents Specialists program has four main sectors of cooperation: Nature & Tourism, Business, Health & Social and Research sector. The aim of the work done in the sectors is to create links between different actors in the four participating countries and to provide up-to date practical and theoretical knowledge for the use of local businesses, organizations and other actors.

The sectors will engage in various activities promoting cooperation and exchange of information and experiences to ease cooperation across borders. The main activities of the Barents Specialists -program include:

  1. Development of a sustainable, long-term strategy for the work of the Barents Specialists Network
  2. Educating a group of Barents Specialists through the following:
    • Professional Development (PD) University studies (40 ov. / 60 ECTS)
    • Graduate School for post-graduate research
    • Student and teacher exchange
    • Russian language training
    • Creation of content for Virtual Barents Studies in the web (20 ov. / 30 ECTS)
  3. Development of working strategies for the sectors: planning, education, research services and creation of new materials for the use of the private and public sectors
  4. Selection of a common platform for Virtual Barents Studies, development of study materials and web-based courses for university and polytechnic students. This includes development of a web-based information system for the use of the network and other interested participants.
