The Association of Higher Education of Eastern Norrbotten is situated in the north-east part of Sweden. The Association is an regional federation of four local authorities: Haparanda, Kalix, Överkalix and Övertorneå. Our main task is to co-ordinate and develop higher education and research in this area.

Eastern Norrbotten Researchstation is a co-operation between the Association of Higher Education of Eastern Norrbotten and Luleå University of Technology and Swedish University of Agricultural in Umeå.

Our main role in the Barents Specialists project is to participate in the network and to contribute to the development of a model for co-operation between researchers uniting research with practical knowledge in an innovative way, first of all in the sector Nature & Tourism.

Our aims for participation are:

  • To establish contact to researchers and specialists in a regional network of Barents area with a high competence within the professional sectors in the Barents region specially in the field of tourism.
  • To join in developing sustainable networks, new channels of communication and project co-operation
  • To increase internationalization through bridging networks and contacts, finding and creating new contacts in priority areas, developing contacts with foreign research environments and creating new communication channels.
